We’re not in Kansas anymore, Toto”

Australia will be getting a big dose of Carbonomics – a greenhouse gas reduction target, a national emissions trading scheme, complementary measures such as the 20% renewable energy target, energy savings rules for buildings, and more.

Every business will be affected. What should the new rules and regulations look like? What will be the costs for business and the community? How can organisations benefits from the transition to carbon markets?

The interim Garnaut report has produced a new round of economic, political and policy challenges - targets for deep cuts to 2020; limited sectors to receive free emissions permits; broad coverage of the economy; low income and regional impacts; the role for energy efficiency and research.  The Carbonomics panel will review the Garnaut findings and take the debate further...

A panel of business and community leaders will debate the merits and potential pitfalls of an Emissions Trading Scheme and the transition to a new economy...

This event will include presentations on the market implications and opportunities for Australia in the new carbon market.

Environment groups will also be releasing their key principles for an emissions trading scheme, at the event.

Following on from our Going Carbon Neutral event held in May, our next event - ‘Carbon opportunities’ examines energy efficiency: the quickest, most economical and most enduring way for organisations to reduce their carbon footprint.  The event will highlight the potential for innovation not only within organisations but also in product streams and stakeholder relationships.

Increasingly, organisations are taking the first steps to carbon neutrality, how can organisations most effectively manage their carbon footprints using energy efficiency?  How will the changes in the energy industry and government policies help?

This event will explore:

  • Learnings from selected Energy Efficiency Opportunities (EEO) pilots and how they can be applied to all organisations.
  • How to embrace product and service innovation in a carbon constrained world while creating new revenue streams.
  • The current policy landscape on energy efficiency.
  • What we can learn from water efficiency programs.

This event will provide an overview of what organisations can and are doing to gain a competitive edge - it is must for any organisation serious about energy efficiency or wanting to build their capacity to embark on the carbon neutral path.
